Based on a survey of 3,700 global executives, the 2025 Kyndryl Report highlights a significant "readiness gap": while 87% of leaders believe AI will fundamentally change roles within the next year, most organizations are unprepared for the transformation.

Key Insights

Adoption vs. Readiness: AI investment is up 33%, with 54% reporting a positive ROI. However, 60% of organizations remain in the experimentation phase, and 62% feel unprepared for future AI-related risks. Top barriers to scaling AI include integration complexity (35%), regulatory issues (29%), and talent shortages (29%).

• Workforce Skills Gap: A major gap exists between AI optimism and workforce preparedness. Only 29% of leaders state their workforce is ready to use AI effectively. Weekly AI usage is 61% for technical staff but drops to 43% for non-technical employees.

• Infrastructure & Risk: IT infrastructure is a critical weak point. Only 39% feel their IT is ready for future risks, and 82% experienced a cyber-related outage in the past year. Technical debt (57%) and aging hardware (25%) are common issues hindering innovation.
